The child protection unit project concludes a training for social workers in Khan Younis governorate

Today the child protection unit project concluded a specialised training in Khan Younis governorate for seven social workers, within the trainings of the child protection unit project funded by Save the Children International, with the aim of reaching out to parents and providing psychological and legal support in the various Gaza governorates.

On the choice of social workers as a group, the coordinator of the child protection unit project, Mohammed Abu Haddaf, said: "The social worker's role is essential for dealing with beneficiaries and providing the support the public needs," explaining that the training focuses on giving the trainees skills in running activity sessions effectively, alongside communication and outreach skills and the ability to make locally delivered activities a success.

Abu Haddaf explained that the trainees' real task will begin through working with the project's partner organisations spread across all the Gaza governorates, once they have gained enough experience in dealing with children and parents. He added: "The training ran for three days, comprising 12 training hours, interspersed with a range of interactive activities among the trainees to become familiar with the difficult situations they may face or the questions the public may later put to them."
