Our aim is to focus on one group of pupils

Teachers do everything in their power to give all the pupils in one class care and attention, but the truth is that the gifted pupil takes the right of the weaker pupil, for forty-five minutes are not enough for forty-five pupils, between marking, explaining and writing. Our aim in this project is to focus on one group of pupils, namely the low-attaining pupils, to give them knowledge and bring them up to their peers at school. This is what Mrs. Salwa Abu Nujaila, director of the Tamayuz Educational Association in Beit Hanoun, said during a festival held by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution within the events of the project for reducing the risk of illiteracy among children in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday 16/2/2011. The parents expressed their happiness at their children's progress little by little in their studies, at their attachment to the teachers taking part in the project, and at their obtaining better grades than in previous years. They also offered their warmest thanks to those running the project for the hard work they have put in to reduce low academic attainment among their children. It is noted that another festival was organised at the Family Development Association, and the festival included many recreational activities bringing children together with their mothers, and gifts were distributed to the children.
