Conflict Resolution Center holds 10 festivals for children in the Gaza Strip

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held ten recreational festivals for children and their families in the areas affected by storm Alexa, in several parts of the Gaza Strip. These activities come within the project of open days and recreational activities, carried out in partnership with Save the Children.
Ashraf Abu Anza, director of the Khan Younis branch of the Conflict Resolution Center, said the effects the storm left on citizens two months ago, particularly on children, left a deep mark in the form of a loss of any sense of safety and security.
He added that the depth of the crisis lay in homes in the Gaza Strip being flooded with rain and sewage water, which caused partial or total damage to the homes and lasted a long time, to the point that some people have not been able to return to this day.
Abu Anza stressed the importance of the Centre's role in reducing the psychological problems suffered by children and their families, by carrying out many recreational activities and emotional release sessions.
He pointed out that we are working to dispel the effects of the shock caused by homes being flooded with water while the families slept, which left children fearful, particularly when they hear the sound of rain or when darkness falls.
For her part, Ola Al-Hissi, the administrative coordinator, explained that ten festivals were held reaching around 2,000 children, including recreational activities, competitions and the distribution of gifts to participants, all of which strengthened their participation and positive engagement.
She said we brought joy and delight to the children and their families, strengthened communication between children and their engagement with the world around them, and urged parents to keep their children from falling into isolation or withdrawal.
