The legal information and services project begins a legal course for women community activists in Gaza

The legal information, counselling and services project at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has begun delivering a training course to strengthen the legal capacities of fifteen women community activists at the Centre's main premises in Gaza City, running for three days.

On the importance of the training, the projects director at the Conflict Resolution Center, Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, pointed out that it comes as part of the concern to refine the skills of women mukhtars so as to ensure they engage more fully in resolving community and family problems and disputes, particularly those relating to women's issues.

Al-Tahrawi said: "The participants will benefit on several matters, the most important being familiarity with the main actions relating to inheritance and with women's financial rights, such as dowries, maintenance, gold and household furnishings, in addition to separation actions and some points on financial rights in the personal status law, with the participation of a group of trainers experienced in the field of law."

It is worth noting that the legal information, counselling and services project is carried out by the Centre in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), with the aim of helping vulnerable groups obtain their rights in inheritance and in disputes over land and property in the governorates of the Gaza Strip.
