Juvenile justice concludes the administrative and legal skills course for those following up juvenile cases in the Gaza governorates

Last Thursday the juvenile justice project at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution concluded a new training course entitled "Developing the administrative and legal skills of probation officers, social workers and investigation inspectors", comprising 12 training hours over four days at the Centre's main premises in Gaza City.

At the start of the training, the coordinator of the juvenile justice project, lawyer Ahmed Al-Masri, pointed to the importance of this training, since it will help develop the administrative and legal capacities of the groups who deal with juveniles in conflict with the law, adding: "We hope that probation officers and social workers at the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Al-Rabee institution, alongside the investigation inspectors, will work to increase joint coordination in order to protect children while they serve their sentences inside the reform facility."

Al-Masri called on the participants to make good use of the training's subjects, which centre on knowing the principles of the code of criminal procedure and the laws relating to juveniles, in addition to the laws setting out how to deal with juveniles during investigation and detention and after their release. He stressed that juveniles are children who have broken the law for psychological, social or economic reasons, and that the best legal care must always be provided to them.

It is noted that the Conflict Resolution Center carries out the juvenile justice project in joint cooperation with Terre des hommes Switzerland, in order to care for juveniles and support them in the future so as to improve their environmental, psychological and legal situation.
