The project "Stronger oversight, better justice" begins a course to develop the skills of staff at the reform centres in Gaza

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, through the project "Stronger oversight, better justice", has begun a training course to develop the administrative and legal skills of staff at the reform and rehabilitation centres in the Gaza governorates, with the participation of 25 officers from the reform centres in the training hall at the Centre's main premises in Gaza City.

At the opening of the training course, the coordinator of the project "Stronger oversight, better justice", lawyer Anwar Azzam, praised the first fruits of the achievements his Centre has secured with the General Directorate of Reform and Rehabilitation Centres since the joint memorandum of understanding was signed at the start of last year. He pointed out that the Conflict Resolution Center's projects have delivered a range of training courses and workshops for staff and for prison inmates at the reform centres, in order to help develop administrative and legal performance at the rehabilitation centres.

Azzam explained that the training continues for four days and focuses on subjects including planning and institutional management, in addition to learning how to manage time and meetings and strengthening the participants' legal skills. He added: "I hope all the officers will benefit from the instructors and experts, who will give the trainees every resource and answer all their questions in order to support them administratively and legally."

It is noted that the Conflict Resolution Center helps provide legal aid to marginalised groups in the local community in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, through the Centre's legal department and a number of internationally funded legal projects.
