Conflict Resolution concludes a training course for the officers working in the reform and rehabilitation centres

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in Gaza governorate concluded a specialised training course in the field of inmates' rights and law enforcement. The course targeted the officers working in the reform and rehabilitation centres, to develop their knowledge of the local and international human rights standards relevant to their work.
The course, which ran for four days, was opened by Dr. Abdel Qader Abu Jarad, and the subject of the first training day was the code of criminal procedure.
The training's themes focused on several topics, the most important being human rights standards in international and national legislation, inmates' rights in international and national standards, the treatment of inmates, health care in prisons and reform centres, the Commission's role in monitoring the reform and rehabilitation centres, and the methods of treatment and the rights of child and women inmates.
The course aimed to qualify and train those working in the reform and rehabilitation unit whose duties require them to enter the reform centres.
It is worth noting that this course comes within the project "Stronger oversight, better justice", funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the participation of 20 men and women working in law enforcement.
