Conflict Resolution carries out a training programme for the volunteers of the awareness-raising rounds

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy, completed a training programme for the volunteers of the awareness-raising rounds, within the events of World Consumer Day, where around 100 male and female volunteers were trained.
The training programme was opened under the patronage of the governor of Nablus, the director of the Chamber of Commerce, the director of the department of the Ministry of National Economy, in addition to the director of the consumer protection department. The subject of partnership and cooperation between government institutions and civil society organisations in carrying out events and activities that concern the citizen and increase their awareness and culture on various issues and policies was discussed.
During his remarks, the director of the department of the Ministry of National Economy showed the importance of the cooperation between the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution and the Ministry of National Economy and of their addressing a major issue that touches the citizen's life, particularly as there are many unscrupulous traders and suppliers who supply the Palestinian markets with goods unfit for human consumption, and there is a pressing need to join efforts and put an end to the spread of this phenomenon.
He went on, noting the role of the volunteers in confronting the traders who supply the market with expired and spoiled goods that harm the Palestinian consumer. He also spoke about the importance of recruiting volunteers with the aim of involving civil society and making it a matter of public opinion, in order to hold traders to account and impose the maximum penalty on everyone who harms the Palestinian consumer.

It is worth noting that the training programme falls within the project of active citizenship in activating consumer protection procedures, carried out by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy and in partnership with Catholic Relief Services and with funding from the United States Agency for International Development.
