Conflict Resolution Center celebrates the graduation of a course to strengthen the capacities of those charged with law enforcement in Gaza
Gaza, Publication and Information Unit:
The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, within the project "Towards a society free of violence against women", celebrated a training course entitled "The skills of police officers in dealing with cases of domestic violence", with the participation of 30 people charged with law enforcement, comprising 25 training hours over 5 days at the La Terrazza hotel in Gaza, attended by the chair of the board of the Conflict Resolution Center, Eng. Khaled Zeidan, and the inspector general of training at the General Directorate of Training at the Ministry of Interior, Yahya Al-Shoubaki.
At the start of the celebration, Eng. Zeidan welcomed those charged with law enforcement and valued the importance of continuing cooperation between the Conflict Resolution Center and the police stations in providing genuine legal protection to women in particular and to all members of Palestinian society in general. He pointed out that the Centre carries out the project "Towards a society free of violence" to protect women, and that this participation comes with funding from the Norwegian People's Aid programme (NPA) to support women in reaching their rights through the law and to provide the appropriate legal, psychological and social support to reintegrate them into society.
For his part, the inspector general of training at the Ministry of Interior, Al-Shoubaki, pointed out that his ministry will work to provide security and protection within society and that coordination continues with all civil society organisations, foremost the Conflict Resolution Center, in all the Gaza governorates. He stressed that the police officers taking part in the training will help strengthen the role of protection and support for women in their dealings with them in the future and in reaching a safe environment for them and their families.
For their part, the participants in the training received certificates of appreciation for their engagement and commitment during the course, and called for intensifying training and educational meetings on dealing with women's issues in the future.
