The Centre concludes a training course for counsellors in Al-Qarara and Khuzaa

Khan Younis: the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, in partnership with Save the Children, concluded a training course for a number of psychological counsellors at 4 schools in Al-Qarara and Khuzaa, within the project "Remedial education and child protection through local community participation", funded by Italian Cooperation. The training aimed at strengthening the counsellors' capacities and developing their skills in dealing with pupils, where the counsellors were trained in children's rights, advocating children's rights, case management, and monitoring and documentation. Raed Abu Saada, the project coordinator, mentioned that this project targets 960 pupils in the tenth and eleventh grades, since this age is one of the most difficult stages pupils pass through as it falls within the period of adolescence. He also stated that a committee of pupils will be formed at these schools, reaching 25 pupils at each school, so that a number of activities will be carried out for them with the aim of advocating and strengthening pupils' rights and improving the educational environment at these schools. Abu Saada also confirmed that the trainees expressed how much they had benefited from this training and their ability to deal with this group of adolescents.
