A statement issued by the coalition of civil forces to end the division

Our Palestinian people receive with added hope and optimism the reconciliation agreement between the Fatah and Hamas movements signed today in Cairo, crowning rounds of dialogue and discussion and heralding the declaration of a new era of unity, solidarity and tolerance, so that we may turn the pages of the disagreement that harmed the Palestinian cause and its future. We in the coalition of civil forces to end the division, as we congratulate our Palestinian people on this agreement, offer our warm thanks to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, which had the most prominent and most important role in driving the wheel of reconciliation and sponsoring the agreement. We wish to stress at this important stage the following: 1- The points of the signed agreement are a solid basis for reconciliation if all the details, even the finest of them, are answered. 2- The availability of the will among the parties is one of the basic elements for the success of the reconciliation. 3- The sponsorship of sisterly Egypt and its follow-up of the agreement is a basic guarantee at every stage of the agreement's implementation. 4- The Palestinian people with all their living forces must form the real guarantee for protecting and safeguarding the reconciliation agreement. The coalition of civil forces to end the division calls on the Fatah and Hamas movements to preserve this great achievement, and we stress that we are fully ready to make every effort required that contributes to strengthening the reconciliation and resolving the outstanding files, in protection of our national project and in mercy to the members of our Palestinian people, who suffer from occupation, siege and division.
