The closing ceremony of the events of the project "Our children are our hopes"

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held a closing ceremony for the project "Our children are our hopes", funded by USAID and IRD and in partnership with World Vision, on Wednesday in the museum hall in Gaza. The ceremony was attended by many figures representing the funding bodies and the participating organisations and associations. The festival included many items such as dabke, puppets, a film explaining the project's activities and a song dedicated to the project. In an address on behalf of World Vision, Mr. Mohammed Al-Halabi, director of the Gaza youth development programme, explained that World Vision's message is to serve the communities that serve children and to seek to improve their standard of living and provide them with wellbeing. He added that the organisation is preparing to run new projects next year, one of them aiming at setting up clubs dedicated to children, with the project lasting three years. Mrs. Nevine Afana, the project coordinator in Rafah governorate, added that those running the project did not overlook providing the service to the younger age group: over more than a year the project reached 10 local organisations and 15 kindergartens, and also reached 2,800 children to teach them life skills and to entertain them, in addition to organising awareness sessions for 1,650 women in the North and the South. In an address by Mr. Rabie Hamouda, the Centre's coordinator, he confirmed that the project's aim had been fully achieved, that the project had succeeded greatly, and that the evidence of this is the success stories and the testimonies of the parents.
