The Palestinian Center, Hebron branch, holds many workshops for women
Within the events of the project for supporting and empowering women funded by the office of Norwegian People's Aid, the Palestinian Center carried out many awareness and education meetings for women in the areas of Tarqumiya, Kharas, Surif and Dura, where the workshops were held at women's centres and gatherings. The first meeting discussed the violence practised against women, then the second meeting addressed the legal side of maintenance, divorce and marriage (personal status), and the third meeting consisted of relaxation and unburdening exercises for women to alleviate the severity of the pressures and psychological suffering women are subjected to from the violence directed at them in its various forms. We mention here that the workshops continue in each area for three consecutive meetings for the same group of women, in order to provide a safe psychological atmosphere for the women and to build bridges of trust between the women and the Centre's facilitators in solving the problems the woman suffers from, through turning to the psychologist and in order to achieve the happiness of the woman, who is an indivisible part of the family and therefore of society.
On the other hand, Nour Jaber, counsellor at the Centre, confirmed that these meetings do not end with the end of the workshops; rather they will continue throughout the project period in providing services to the beneficiaries through calling the Centre's free line or through field follow-up and the specialist's visits to the beneficiaries who need intervention in solving their problems, whether psychological intervention or legal intervention by the lawyer, and in order to create a safe society free of violence directed at women, which is reflected on the culture of an entire society.
