The project "A protective environment for children against sexual exploitation" concludes the children's activity sessions

The project "A protective environment for children" carried out a series of activity sessions in all the governorates of Gaza, one of the project's most important activities, aiming to make 124,500 children aged 7 to 12 aware of the mechanisms of protection from sexual exploitation, through 3,320 sessions. Each group comprises 15 children, who are given awareness over four sessions in which the activity leader sets out important definitions on the subject of the sexual exploitation of children, then turns to the ways in which a child can protect themselves from falling victim to exploitation, by teaching them to tell bad touches from proper ones, as well as through recreational games and the screening of educational cartoons that convey the information to them more clearly. The activity leader sets out the ways a child can protect themselves if someone tries to exploit them sexually and how to act: to shout, to run away and to say no to anything they do not like or feel is wrong. A high level of engagement was noted among the children in the sessions, in addition to the outcomes of these sessions, which gave many children the space to open up and speak about any incidents of exploitation they had been subjected to, so that we can provide the appropriate psychological support
