The Palestinian network of the project "A Protective Environment against Hate Speech and Supportive of Freedom of Expression in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank", funded by the European Union with some 450,000 euros, held its first meeting.
The meeting was organised by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in partnership with Filastiniyat, covering both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, on Thursday 30 April 2020 via Zoom video conference.
The meeting was attended by the project manager and coordinators, with the participation of representatives of civil society organisations in Gaza and the West Bank.
The Palestinian network brings together 30 non-governmental and civil society organisations in Gaza and the West Bank to confront hate speech. Participants discussed the network's tasks, how to activate it and its regular meetings, and the discussion focused on the importance of selecting the monitoring team on professional criteria given the sensitivity of the subject. Participants expressed their commitment to making this project a success, given its importance in spreading a culture of tolerance and preserving social peace.
