The Centre opens the first events of the project "Women for civil peace"
Hebron: the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held a training course within the project "Women for civil peace", where the Centre's director, Mr. Saad Shalalda, opened the first session of the first day of the course, speaking about the Centre and the nature of the objectives it seeks to achieve at community level. He also explained the training programme of the course, which continues for five days at 30 training hours, for women leaders active in the community, setting out in detail the course's objectives and its importance for civil peace. Mr. Mohammed Al-Bo, coordinator of the project "Women for civil peace", also distributed the pre-test to the trainees to gauge the extent of their knowledge and awareness of the subject of civil peace, and then went on to explain in detail the concepts relating to civil peace, the state of violence and tolerance and its effect on society at several levels, the most important of them social, economic, religious and political, setting out the role of the state, the political parties and civil society organisations in rooting and strengthening civil peace. He also addressed the reality of civil peace in Palestine and the state of decline that Palestinian society has witnessed and is witnessing. At the end of the day the floor was opened for discussion and questions on the subject, and the trainees expressed their happiness at learning many things relating to civil peace and the need to hold such courses to spread and root the role of civil society in political life and in building society.
