The Centre organises a workshop in the town of Beit Ula on incest

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, Hebron branch, through the project for supporting and empowering women, organised a workshop in the town of Beit Ula, specifically in the (Umm Allas) area, on the crime of incest and its repercussions and causes, noting the most important steps and matters that must be taken into account in order to protect the family and its children from this crime. It also spoke about the role of parental supervision, about mobile devices and their negatives and positives, and about the role of negative customs and traditions behind much of the "shame" policy that can destroy an entire family and therefore society.

The workshop was attended by 45 women, through which many of the matters women are subjected to and the issue of incest were discussed, along with the mechanisms for protecting the family and the necessary measures to be taken into account.

The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations praising the role of awareness-raising and education for women and calling for more meetings and workshops, particularly on the subjects women are embarrassed to discuss. Among these recommendations:

1. Increasing the number of awareness workshops and meetings.
2. Reaching all the marginalised and remote areas for awareness-raising and education on such issues.
3. Paying attention to the subjects that touch both men and women.
4. A request for awareness and education on sexual matters and assaults and guidance on the mechanisms for dealing with them.
5. Paying attention to the legal side in making women aware of their rights and of the personal status law.
6. Focusing on the importance of institutional networking for support and for helping the beneficiaries.
