Conflict Resolution organises a workshop on women's rights in education and marriage in Nablus governorate

Yesterday the project "Towards a society free of violence" at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution organised a workshop on women's rights in education and the effects of early marriage in Nablus governorate. The workshop was held at the premises of the Youth of Tomorrow organisation, attended by the social worker from the Conflict Resolution Center, Wurud Yassin, with the participation of 13 women from the governorate.

During the meeting, the specialist Yassin reviewed the most important rights of women, among them the right to education, to choose a husband and to live in dignity like other members of Palestinian society, adding: "Family stability between spouses is reflected positively in the children: the continuing problems between them trouble the children's lives and produce serious problems in their behaviour."

For their part, the participants stressed that the aim of denying girls the right to education is to avoid the financial burdens arising from university study. They called for intensifying legal and rights awareness for women within society and for focusing in the future on inheritance matters for women victims of violence.

It is worth noting that the Conflict Resolution Center continues its cooperation with civil society organisations as partners in the project "Towards a society free of violence", among them the Youth of Tomorrow organisation, with which cooperation has continued for 3 years.
