Conflict Resolution Center opens a new branch of the family meeting point in the north of the Gaza Strip

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution opened the new branch of the family meeting point in the city of Bisan in the north of the Gaza Strip, in the presence of the representative of the reconciliation department at the Palestine Scholars League, Sheikh Tayseer Al-Atout, and with the participation of a number of police officers represented by the director of the judicial police and the directors of the enforcement offices in the North governorate, together with a gathering of citizens.

At the start of the opening ceremony, the Centre's projects coordinator, Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, stressed the importance of opening the family meeting point in the North governorate to provide a safe place for children to be seen and to give them psychological comfort. He noted that this activity comes within the events of the project for supporting and empowering abused women, funded by the Norwegian aid office.

Al-Tahrawi offered his thanks to the chief justice, Dr. Hassan Al-Joujou, for his great cooperation in approving the visitation premises in the North governorate, as well as to the Palestinian police, represented by the enforcement departments, for their cooperation in enforcing the visitation rulings at the new family meeting point. He explained that the Centre has been providing the family meeting point service for more than ten years in every governorate of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and that more than 250 Palestinian families benefit from the family meeting point's services.

For his part, Sheikh Al-Atout pointed to the need to treat children in accordance with the provisions of Islamic law and to keep children away from family disputes so that they do not become victims of those family problems and conflicts. He added: "This project, sponsored by the Conflict Resolution Center, is important in providing psychological support and psychological safety for children, away from visits at police stations."

It is noted that the opportunity will now be open to the families of the North governorate to be received at the family meeting point premises in the city of Bisan in the North governorate every week on Monday and Tuesday.
