Conflict Resolution Center begins carrying out the Justice for All project in the Gaza Strip

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has begun carrying out the Justice for All project, funded by the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP which aims at developing the capacities of law faculty graduates among the new lawyers in the Gaza Strip and at training mukhtars and reconciliation figures in the principles of arbitration and mediation in disputed cases within society.

The coordinator of the Justice for All project, Younis Al-Tahrawi, confirmed that the project's launch will achieve its aims of making the local community aware of legal matters of concern to a large number of groups in the community. He added: "We will focus on developing the capacities of new lawyers by developing their skills in making the public aware of legal issues, among them women's rights under the personal status law."

Al-Tahrawi noted that the Conflict Resolution Center, in coordination with the United Nations Development Programme, has since the beginning of this September begun carrying out a series of educational training courses for a number of lawyers and law faculty students in the field of the law of penal procedure, the personal status law, the principles of pleading and the skills of managing sessions.

The coordinator of the Justice for All project said: "One hundred participants, men and women, will take part in and benefit from the training courses for lawyers, distributed across four groups, two of them in Gaza City, one group in the Middle governorate and one group in Khan Younis governorate. Training courses will be given to target groups in the coming stage within the legal awareness circles the project carries out."

It is noted that the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution contributes to developing and qualifying new graduates within the framework of the Centre's efforts to support the local community and to support the various marginalised groups, among them abused women and juvenile offenders.
