The project for providing legal assistance to women in need begins holding a series of educational workshops and events in the Gaza Strip

The project for providing legal assistance to women in need at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held an educational meeting on women's right to inheritance, housing and ownership, in partnership with the Al-Zahraa Association for Women and Children. The meeting was held at the premises of the Al-Salah Association in the Zawayda area of the Middle governorate, attended by a number of men and interested people.

At the start of the meeting, lawyer Ahmed Hassouna, of the legal unit at the Palestinian Center, confirmed that this workshop comes as an introductory launch of the project for providing legal assistance to women in need, with the aim of increasing community awareness of the concepts and rights of women in inheritance, ownership and housing. He noted that the project team is continuously ready to receive marginalised legal cases and those unable to plead before the courts.

Lawyer Hassouna said: "The legal unit at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has begun receiving a number of marginalised legal cases, and our teams are always ready to provide legal assistance in every Gaza governorate." He called on citizens to give attention to engaging with the legal assistance project, given its importance in achieving the justice of the law within Palestinian society.

The meeting included the presentation of educational material to those present on women's inheritance rights within society, as well as women's rights in housing and ownership. At the end of the meeting the floor was opened for questions and legal advice from those present, who called for holding more training meetings to increase their awareness of how to manage the affairs of their lives in accordance with the law.

It is noted that the project for providing legal assistance to women in need is one of the projects supervised by the legal unit at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, and aims at providing legal aid to abused women by representing them before the courts.
