The project for improving awareness of gender issues begins carrying out its training programmes for students in Gaza

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, through the project for improving local community awareness in support of gender issues, began delivering its training programmes to a number of pupils at UNRWA schools in the governorates of Gaza on 11-12-2011, with the participation of a number of the project's male and female educators.

On the start of the project's activities, the project coordinator Manal Zein Al-Din confirmed that the Conflict Resolution Center had begun carrying out its training programmes for children in the governorates of Gaza in coordination with the education administration at UNRWA and in contact with the principals of a number of schools, adding: "The training includes addressing the subjects of gender, school violence and the means of protecting children from harassment, in addition to children's rights."

Zein Al-Din explained that the first day of training saw the participation of 30 pupils from the preparatory stage at UNRWA schools, and "we will coordinate during the coming period to hold more educational meetings at new schools", noting that the school principals encouraged this step and called for holding more of these sessions and increasing them in order to support children affected by social and school violence.

It is worth noting that the project for improving local community awareness in support of gender issues is carried out by the Conflict Resolution Center with funding from the United Nations Development Programme in support of women, UN Women, to support children and to support them in learning a number of the concepts relating to gender in society.
