Property, land and housing disputes between the formal judiciary and customary justice in the Gaza Strip

Since 2011 the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has been implementing the project  "Providing legal aid, counselling and information to women in need", particularly in cases related to land, property and inheritance. A positive role has been observed for reconciliation committees (male and female mukhtars) in providing services that use alternative methods such as mediation and arbitration within a short time compared with the time taken before the formaljudiciary, for a number of real and clear reasons. 

A critical comparative study will therefore be carried out on the use of the formal judicial system in Gaza (civil courts) andcustomary justice, focusing on theimpact of each on women's ability to claim their human rights, through a number of criteria.

Interested applicants should submit their CV and experience in this field, along with samples of previous work, and must provide a technical and financial proposal in two separate sealed envelopes no later than 10 October/ 2017 to the head office of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in Gaza, Qasr Al-Hakem Street.
