Conflict Resolution continues collecting signatures against violence against women in Hebron

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, within the project "Towards a society free of violence", continued collecting signatures for the campaign against violence towards women subjected to violence in Palestinian society. The campaign's work extends across the governorates of the northern and southern West Bank, particularly in Hebron and Nablus.

In this connection, the coordinator of the project "Towards a society free of violence" in Hebron governorate, Salwa Al-Hafez, explained that the document against violence aims to reduce cases of violence and of the killing of women on grounds of honour and the various crimes against women. She explained that the Centre is making efforts in coordination with the government and civil society organisations to increase awareness and education about the positive role of dialogue in family relations, particularly between men and women.

Al-Hafez pointed out that the number of signatures has so far reached 500 in support of the document, signed by a group of university presidents and staff, civil society and women's organisations, clubs and Palestinian young people, affirming their opposition to the killing of women. She called for community efforts to be joined in signing and in pressing decision-makers to enact laws criminalising the killing of women in all circumstances.

It is worth noting that the Palestinian Center for Conflict Resolution carries out a range of women's projects that strengthen the role of Palestinian women in the governorates of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and that these projects strengthen the relationship with the government and with organisations in the service of women in the local community.
