The child protection teams organise a recreational day for 130 children and their mothers in Khan Younis governorate

Khan Younis, Publication and Information Unit:
"Smiles for family and friends" was the slogan of the recreational day organised by the child protection teams at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, in cooperation with the Nour Al-Shams Kindergarten in Khan Younis governorate, for more than 130 children and their mothers at the Happy Land tourist resort in the city of Deir al-Balah in the south of the Gaza Strip.

At the start of the recreational day, the coordinator of the child protection teams project in Khan Younis governorate, Fatima Al-Shawwaf, welcomed the mothers and their children to enjoy themselves and to have a time of happiness and joy away from the daily pressures and repression they and their children face. She added: "We take pride in our good relationship with all educational and community institutions, foremost the schools and kindergartens, including the Nour Al-Shams Kindergarten, and we always hope to provide the best psychological, social and legal services to the groups of our local community."
For her part, the director of the Nour Al-Shams Kindergarten, Fatima Shaheen, expressed her great pleasure at the active participation of the mothers and children in this day of recreation for them and as a closing ceremony for distributing the first-term certificates to the kindergarten's children. She praised the Conflict Resolution Center, and in particular the child protection teams project, for responding to the invitation to hold a distinctive recreational day for the children and their mothers and for working towards a safe and happy environment for all members of the Palestinian people.
The recreational day included a range of artistic and acrobatic performances by a number of puppets, in addition to some sporting and singing activities and face painting for the children. During the celebration the birthdays of more than 20 children were marked and graduation certificates were handed out to the kindergarten's children, amid an atmosphere of happiness and joy for everyone taking part in the recreational day.

It is noted that the child protection teams project, funded by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), has begun its events for the new year and targets varied groups of pupils and children in the Gaza governorates, providing them with all psychological and social services in addition to developing their capacities in academic attainment and study.
