Justice for All begins the recreational week for male and female prisoners in the Gaza governorates

The Justice for All project at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has begun the events of the recreational week for male and female prisoners in several prisons in the Gaza governorates, within the project's strategy of coordinating and communicating with a number of marginalised groups within Palestinian society.
The start of the first day's events of the recreational week was announced at a large ceremony bringing together officials from the Conflict Resolution Center and representatives of the reform and rehabilitation centres at the prison administrations, with the participation of more than seventy prisoners from the inmates of Al-Katiba Central Prison west of Gaza City.
At the start of the ceremony, the coordinator of the Justice for All project, Younis Al-Tahrawi, stressed that the recreational week for male and female prisoners amounts to a step in the right direction towards reintegrating prisoners psychologically and socially so as to ensure security and stability among citizens. He added: "We value the partnership with the reform and rehabilitation centres in making it easier for our Centre's teams to make this recreational week's events a success, and our determination to improve the living and social conditions of male and female inmates in the prisons."
For his part, the director general of the reform and rehabilitation centres, Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Deeb Suleiman, explained that they are keen to open the doors of the reform centres to all organisations and associations to support male and female inmates at all times. He pointed out that their message lies in reaching a safe environment for inmates and their families within society and in the continuous effort to carry out a range of workshops and educational meetings for inmates.
The Justice for All project continued the recreational week for male and female inmates on the second day at Asdaa prison in Khan Younis governorate, with the participation of eighty prisoners from the prison's inmates.
In this context, the assistant coordinator of the Justice for All project, lawyer Anwar Azzam, expressed his and the project team's pleasure at coming to Asdaa prison and spending a full day with the prisoners for recreation and entertainment away from the difficult suffering of life inside prison. He stressed that the coming days will see recreational days held at the prisons in the North and the Middle governorate, in addition to Ansar prison, so that as many prisoners as possible can enjoy themselves and have a smile brought to them in the coming period.
The recreational day's items include a range of activities and games, among them competition questions, a talents item, a cultural competition among the inmates, and a sporting item including a number of sports such as tug of war, jumping and running and a competition for the fastest at eating yoghurt, in addition to distributing a set of gifts and toys to the inmates' children.
