Conflict Resolution Center forms the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace to support national reconciliation efforts

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has formed the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace, within the series of projects and campaigns the Centre carries out to achieve national reconciliation and end the state of division within the homeland.

In this context, the field coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace, Fayez Zaqout, pointed out that through this coalition the Conflict Resolution Center will carry out a range of activities that will help drive the wheel of reconciliation forward, and will work on holding a summer camp for youth leaders from all the student bodies in order to root the concepts of tolerance and acceptance of others. He noted that the coalition will work on making field visits to the families of the victims and those harmed by the division, in order to ease the harm and to support them socially and morally.

Zaqout explained that the coalition brings together a number of influential forces and factions within the local community, among them mukhtars, reconciliation committees and mosque preachers, with the participation of a group of academics, representatives of the political forces, student leaders and media professionals. He stressed that the coming period will see a number of youth groups and released prisoners involved in the activities the coalition carries out for the benefit of the members of Palestinian society and in furtherance of national reconciliation.

The field coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace explained that the general aim in the coming period is for all the Palestinian factions, organisations and centres of power to raise a single banner: that the homeland belongs to everyone and has room for everyone. He added: "We will hold a large celebration bringing together all the victims' families in order to bridge the gap between families and to deepen dialogue and harmony between the two parts of the homeland."

It is worth noting that the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution launched the reconciliation document, which served as a road map for all parties by addressing the main points of disagreement between the disputing sides and dealing with the fundamental files for ending the division.
