Between contemplation, wishing and scattered dreams
By the psychologist Wurud Yassin, Conflict Resolution Center, Nablus governorate:
One evening she sat contemplating the moon,
drawing on its face the loveliest pictures and verses,
moving through her imagination like a silent butterfly,
seeing sorrow, seeing joy, erasing with her smile all that has passed,
except that the companion of her solitude is the harm that befell her after the divorce,
She tries and tries, but there is a voice that echoes,
customs, traditions, shame, if only you had never been born,
this and that, you, them, your sisters, everything around me, even my room and my toys, my bed, is no longer as it was years ago, before I left in a white wedding dress with a dream that turned into a nightmare that will not end except with my death, because these are the customs and traditions of the area where I live.
Ah, moon, if only you would fall from the sky,
Ah, time, if only you would pass quickly,
My children, how are they? Can anyone answer my questions?
You who light the darkness, light my darkness,
You who answer questions, answer my question,
You who draw love, draw my path to living in joy,
When will joy come?
When will I be free of you and of the years of suffering with you?
When? When? When?
