Conflict Resolution Center concludes the child protection teams football tournament in Gaza

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution concluded the child protection teams football tournament in Gaza, which was crowned by the victory of the Fursan Al-Ghad youth association team as tournament champions, under the patronage of the Shabab Jabalia club, on whose ground the matches were held in the Sheikh Zayed area north of the Gaza Strip, with the participation of 10 sports teams representing a number of associations and organisations.

The final match was attended by representatives of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Dr. Safaa Nasr and Saji Al-Mughanni, the director of the Conflict Resolution Center's Gaza branch, Iyad Abu Hjair, and a number of the partner organisations of the child protection teams at the Conflict Resolution Center, with the participation of a large number of parents and children cheering on their sons taking part in the football tournament.

The Fursan Al-Ghad youth association team beat the Al-Shamal Development Association team 8-1, with the Fursan Al-Ghad players shining as they dominated possession, played as a team and broke through the Al-Shamal Development Association's defensive lines in both halves.

After the final match ended, the tournament cup was presented to the Fursan Al-Ghad youth association team and received by the team captain, the young Ismail Abu Jarad, who also took the best player award. Awards of honour were presented to the Al-Shamal Development Association, which finished in second place, and for its part the Shabab Jabalia club presented a shield of honour to the Conflict Resolution Center for organising this football tournament for children and to the partner organisations.

For his part, Abu Hjair valued the joint efforts among the partner organisations to make this event succeed and to increase entertainment and joy for Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip, amid the psychological challenges and the siege on the members of the Palestinian people, including children, and the need to direct energies and resources to supporting them in all circumstances and at all times.
