The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution launched a set of community initiatives and recreational trips for the children benefiting from the Wojoud programme, a distinctive programme launched by the Welfare Association with the Qatar Fund for Development as the programme's main funder, with contributions from the Bank of Palestine and the Hajj Hashem Atta Al-Shawa Charitable Endowment Fund, to support the orphans of the 2014 assault on Gaza. The programme aims to enable the orphans of the assault to live in dignity and to move forward in realising their ambitions and hopes so as to become active members of their community.

This activity falls within the project "Improving the psychosocial situation of the orphans of the 2014 assault on the Gaza Strip and their mothers, second year". These initiatives and trips aim to strengthen, empower and develop the capacities of orphaned children by including them in a variety of community activities that improve children's psychosocial wellbeing, strengthen community and voluntary values and restore a positive spirit among children.

The initiatives were varied and distinctive, built around the children's inclinations and wishes. The first of these was the initiative #Little_Scout which aims to train participating children in scouting skills and principles, the fields of voluntary work and its role in developing the community. In another distinctive strand, the Centre launched the initiative #I_am_Creative which centres on making marionette puppets with the hands of orphaned children, together with producing a theatre idea of their own devising about an issue that matters to them as children. The initiative #Young_and_Grown is a voluntary community initiative in which 40 children in the Middle and North governorates who had benefited from the project took part. The children took on a pioneering voluntary role in their community and surroundings, with an emphasis on the principle of volunteering and its importance.
In all, around 280 children took part in the recreational trips, which covered all areas of the Strip and included many recreational activities for children.
