The Palestinian Center holds an awareness and dialogue meeting on increasing women's participation in decision-making at local level by increasing their representation in local authorities

Nablus.The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held an awareness and dialogue meeting at Qabalan Municipality aimed at increasing women's participation in decision-making at local level by increasing their representation in local authorities. The meeting was part of the activities of the "A Step Towards Change" project funded by NPA, and was attended by the mayor of Qabalan Mr. Jihad Abed, project coordinator Wurud Yassin, Mr. Issam Odeh representing PCDCR, and was facilitated by Eng. Hadeel of Qabalan Municipality along with Mr. Mansour and Mr. Aziz.

During the meeting, lawyer Hind Amleh presented her experience and her story of how she joined the municipal council as an active member, and the importance of women's role on the council.

The audience was diverse, numbering 30 participants from local institutions, schools, the police station and residents of the town.
At the end of the meeting it was agreed to hold awareness workshops for young people and women on the importance of participation and their effective role in local authorities.
