PCDCR statement regarding so-called the deal of the century
The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution would like to put on the record our rejection of the so-called “Deal of the Century”, announced by the U.S President Donald Trump. This Deal clearly takes the side of Israel and its settlers at the expense of Palestinians and their basic rights of living on their land. It is worth mentioning that the announced Deal was not at all discussed with Palestinians, neither the government nor the people, and was imposed on them with no consultation or even mutual talks. PCDCR refuses the way this Deal classifies Palestinians as a burden on the region and the world that should be gotten rid of or disposed of in any way possible, even if it meant depriving them of their basic rights and taking away more and more of their land and the land of the ancestors.
Moreover, PCDCR would like to emphasize that this Deal is not in any way compatible with the international laws and legislations. This is obviously an illegal attempt to support the Israeli settlements across Palestine. Furthermore, the announced “Palestinian territories” within this Deal are known to be short of any beneficial resources that could improve the lives of its citizens, and there is difficulty within these areas in communication with the outside world. As a Palestinian NGO concerned with conflict resolution and human rights, PCDCR categorically rejects this Deal because it is completely unjust. Whereas, conflicts can only be solved with justice, or at least the minimum amount of it.
PCDCR calls on the international community to support the Palestinians in their just demands to gain their legitimate rights to establish an independent viable state on the boarders of 4th June 1967 which represent the minimum rights of Palestinians.
Moreover, PCDCR calls on the Palestinian leaders to alleviate the internal division. This would be the time to put their differences aside and stand united against this Deal … what exactly are they waiting for?!!
PCDCR demands a supportive role from Arab communities and a respectful and just international position.
The position of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution on the "Deal of the Century"
The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution registers its objection to the "Deal of the Century" announced by US President Trump, which ignores the most basic rights of the Palestinian people and was tailored primarily to meet Israeli demands. Palestinians were consulted in its drafting neither as a people nor as a leadership, and were given no consideration; they were treated as a human burden on the region and the world, in their own land and the land of their ancestors for thousands of years, through the drawing of a map of a state with no defined features and lacking every requirement of life. The deal rode roughshod over all resolutions of international legitimacy and treated the Palestinian people as foundlings, granting them crumbs of land when they are the land's original owners, drawing the borders of a state that is not viable and has none of the basic requirements of life, and then asking Palestinians to accept it. In the proclaimed Palestinian state there is no possibility of communicating with the outside world, or even between its own parts, except under Israeli control; it is a state without real sovereignty.
At the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, as a civil society organisation, we register our rejection of this deal, since conflicts are not resolved in such a way, one that fails to observe the minimum of justice, which is a necessary condition for the durability of any solution.
We call on the international community to stand with us in our just demands to obtain our legitimate rights to establish an independent and viable state on the borders of 4 June 1967, which represents the minimum of the Palestinian people's rights.
We also call on the leaderships of the Palestinian people to unite and find a formula of understanding to end the division. What are they waiting for? And we call for a supportive Arab position and a respectable, just international position.
