The Democratic Youth Forum held a hearing session on Wednesday on safety and security in residential towers and buildings, to discuss the regulations and by-laws governing safety and security procedures inside residential buildings, with the active participation of local government, the Civil Defence fire and safety department, Gaza Municipality, the Engineers Association and a number of Forum members.
The session discussed the nature of the regulations and by-laws applied in the construction of residential towers and buildings to ensure safety and security inside them, and how to reduce the violations committed by tower and building owners, whether citizens or investors, stressing the need to continuously develop these regulations in order to secure all means of safety.
The session also addressed the working mechanisms of tower and building councils and the problems they face, as well as the need for a by-law regulating the work of these councils, removing the obstacles facing residents and ensuring safety and security in towers and buildings.
